Hello,
It is better to join Arts Subject such as History, Political Science, Geography for becoming IAS officer. But, it is all upon you to choose subject as now recent result B.Tech students also score good result in UPSC, so you can choose a subject of your interest not by the suggestion of other because after all you have to study the subject chosen for at least 5 year (2 in 12th and 3 in Bachelor's). The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) will conduct the NDA 2019 examination. It is a national level entrance test. The UPSC NDA exam is conducted to recruit candidates in the Army, Navy and Air Force. The cut off will be the minimum marks needed by the candidates to qualify the written test or interview. The previous year cut off for written stage is 342. The final cut off for finally Recommended Candidates is 708. All the Best.

Both are different field, if you want to make your career in civil social services, then go for an IAS. If you want to see your career in civil engineering, then go for higher education. You can give IES exam also, if you are having interest.

NDA written examination has two main papers and candidates willing to clear SSB need to clear both the papers. A minimum of 45% marks in Mathematics need to be scored or else even if you score above cut off you won't be selected for SSB. Special attention should be paid to the general knowledge and Mathematics in order to crack the exam.

Hi Aman, UPSC exam in its official website itself recommends to only and strictly follow NCERT books for the preparation and many a times questions are either directly fetched or moulded from the NCERT textbooks itself along with current affairs updates from newspaper The Hindu and The Indian Express. Along with them, you may go for M. Laxmikanth book for polity of India and study of constitution. Also, Economics is the subject you need to go with +1 and +2 macrofinance books and for the rest of the subjects it would be advisable to go through NCERT books from 7th standard to 12th standard for all geography, history, art and culture, p
