The number of attempts permissible for a general category candidate in UPSC CSE is 6. For OBC candidates the number of attempts permitted it 9. SC/ST category candidates will have unlimited attempts till they attain the upper age limit to appear for UPSC CSE.

This exam is widely considered as the toughest exam in the world, considering the exam duration (extends 1 year), depth of the syllabus and the competition involved. The first stage of the exam Preliminary (objective) is usually conducted around June, while the second stage, Mains (written), is conducted around October. Those who clear Mains will have to face interview/personality test during the March-May period. The final result usually comes in June.

Yes, it's good even I have friends who do the same. I would suggest you to attend some coaching classes during your B.Tech because that effects a lot and B.Tech life has so much leisure. Apart from this, after you complete your B.Tech, go for IAS coaching and then attend UPSC exam.

No, JEE Mains exam will not offer you any bank related jobs. To get a bank job, you should take the bank entrance exams like IBPS.

Hi Prashant,
There is no specific subject as such which is needed for qualifying the CDS examination. The minimum eligibility criteria (educational qualification) for CDS:
For IMA /OTA : A degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
For Indian Naval Academy: Bachelor of Engineering.
For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10 +2 level ) or Bachelor of Engineering.

The Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively.
