Admissions to HIMT is done on the basis of your class 12th marks. It does not conduct any competitive exam for the same. Thus, Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training, HIMT uses your class 12 percentage to determine your eligibility in their B Tech program. 60% in class 12th is the minimum cutoff required for admission to B Tech at HIMT. As per the criteria, candidates must have passed the Physics, Chemistry, and Math qualifying examinations in their 10+2 or equivalent from an accredited board.

In my opinion, VIT Chennai is better than HIMT college because
- the highest salary placement in VIT Chennai is 75 LPA and the highest salary placement in HIMT College is 4 LPA.
- VIT has 2 coarses for B Sc. and HIMT has only one i.e Nautical Science.
- Total fees in VIT for B Sc. is 2.40 Lacs whereas in HIMT is 9.75 Lacs i.e VIT is cheaper.
- NAAC Accreditation for VIT is 'A+' and there is no NAAC Accreditation for HIMT.
