- Sports Scholarship: Students who have won a national-level prize would be offered a one-time scholarship of INR 10,000 in the course fees. Similarly, if any student has won a State-level prize will be offered a one-time scholarship of INR 5,000 in the course fees at the time of joining the course, or in the year in which they win the National or State-level prize.
- Life Long Scholarship: Seafarers need to regularly complete various modular courses, simulator-based courses, and revalidation courses every five years. To support this, HIMT offers loyalty discounts to candidates. The discount amount ranges from INR 500 to INR 3000 per course, depending on the number of courses completed at HIMT.

For admission in B Tech at HIMT College, students have to pass IMU-CET examamination.
According to 2023, cut off for opening ranks in general was 179 and cut off for closing ranks in general was 150. In 2022, the overall cut off for IMU-CET was 5- 1349 rank.

The primary eligibility requirements for admissions to BSc courses at HIMT Chennai are that candidates must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with at least an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English at the Class 10 & 12 levels. The total fee for BTech courses at HIMT Chennai includes several components, such as tuition fee, hostel fee, admission fee, academic fee, etc. The course fees can be paid semester-wise from the second year. Subsequent semester fees have to be paid online prior to the first day of May and November.
