Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai (also known as VIT Chennai or VIT University Chennai) is a private deemed University. VIT Chennai admits students for BTech through its own Engineering entrance exam, called the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE). VIT has declared the VITEEE 2021 result on the official website. Candidates can now check their scores and ranks through the VIT 2021 result. Qualified candidates will be able to participate in the VITEEE 2021 counselling process, which will be held from June 21. 

During 2020, VIT Vellore cancelled VITEEE 2020 and admission was offered on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the last qualifying exam, i.e. Class 12. This year, shortlisted candidates of VITEEE will be called for VITEEE counselling round based on ranks secured in VITEEE 2021.

As per discussion with a current student of VIT, the general cutoff for VIT Chennai campus is given below:

• CSE cutoff was around 8,000 rank, CSE with specialisation in Bio was around 12,000, IT cutoff was around 9,000 rank and ECE branch had a cutoff rank of 16000
• There are three other sub-branches in CSE for which VIT had phased counselling so there's no concrete information. Expected cutoff based on last year should be around 16000 for all of them.

• VIT will call the first 20,000 rank holders of VITEEE 2021 for Phase-1 of counselling starting from July, 2021

VIT deemed to be University has always been a sought after choice in India for BTech after the tier 1 colleges. But the very next question that comes up is - which one? Among all the four campuses, both Vellore and Chennai campuses are well established and selecting one will depend on a number of factors. However, Vellore campus generally wins the battle in terms of being the oldest one.
