Yes, Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Shimla is infact better than AIHM Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Shimla. The IHM is run by the government, and government recognised certifications are more valued in India. The education and curriculum are similar for both the IHM and AIHM. But the fee structure for the IHM is less compared to that of AIHM. There is a drastic difference between the two. This is because government institutions offer courses at lower fees and private institutions at higher amounts. The placements for IHM are also good. It has a 100% placement rate in 2023. All the students who attended the interview got placed. 181 students got placed. The AIHM Taj Vivanta is adjacent to the AIHM Institute of tourism and Hotel Management, so students can get practical knowledge. But this is not possible for the IHM students unless they go for internships.

As per the latest report of 2023, Institute of Hotel Management, shimla the highest salary package offered to the students was 35,000 per month. The average package is 15 to 20 thousand per month and the lowest package is 8 to 9 thousand per month. The forms for the entrance exams are filled in december exam is conducted in mid april and result is declared in mid may and after that counselling of the colleges started.
