Eligibility

To be eligible for admission to a B.Ed course, you need to have at least 50% marks in your graduation degree. If you belong to the SC, ST, or OBC category, you need to have at least 47.5% marks. 

Subjects

The subjects you choose in B.Ed should be relevant to what you studied in graduation or post-graduation. You can choose a different subject than your graduation, but you need to do a post-graduation degree in that subject.

Course duration

The B.Ed course is typically two years long. However, the New Education Policy (NEP) has notified a four-year integrated teacher education program. 

The date for filling out B.Ed admission forms differs according to the institution and also the state. For example:

The IGNOU B.Ed applications are scheduled to open on December 2024, and the entrance exam is set to take place in January 2025.

State-Level Tests: Many states conduct their entrance exams for B.Ed, which includes UP B.Ed JEE, Bihar B.Ed CET, and MAH B.Ed CET. These generally provide an application window from January 2024 to May 2024. For instance, the application window for UP B.Ed JEE will run from February 10 2024, through May 7, 2024.

University specific admissions: Bangalore University has already closed its application for 2024. The rest may have different schedules.

The IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Test does not have an age restriction. There are no age limitations for applicants to the Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program. The applicants' professional teaching experience and academic credentials are given more weight in the eligibility requirements. Applicants should be in-service primary or secondary teachers, possess a minimum of 50% in their undergraduate or graduate degree, and have either finished a National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)-accredited teacher preparation program. Therefore, regardless of age, anyone who satisfies the professional and educational qualifications may apply for the entrance exam.

To get admission into IGNOU, and pursue one's teaching education through B.Ed or M.Ed one needs to fulfill the respective eligibility criteria. • Candidates must complete their graduation in a relevant stream with an aggregate of 50% or more or completion of a master's in science/social Science or humanities with 50%.
