Aspirants fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply through the IHM Pusa official website. To be eligible, candidate shall be a Class 12 or equivalent exam pass and should have studied English as a compulsory subject. The application form can be downloaded online, filled, and then the scanned copy has to be uploaded along with the important documents and receipt of the application fee payment. Candidates on merit-basis for IHM Pusa UG Diploma courses. 

IHM Shillong accepts NCHMCT JEE scores, followed by the counselling process for admission to the BSc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration course. Yes, The Institute of Hotel Management, Gangtok offers accommodation for hostels. The Institute offers two private women's hostels, each with 24 seats, and a boys hostel with 64 seats. Additional, Private accommodation are also available at nominal charges. Students who stay at hostel can avail mess facilities serving Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. Each week offers a variety of menu.

IHM Gangtok won first prize in Chief Competition organized by Spices Boa of Inda Pepp-It Up-2014 on 6th August, 2014.

The International Pepper Community and the Spices Board of India sponsored a competition at the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in Thiruvananthapuram. Lhaden and Wangmu Bhutia, who received a monetary award of Rs. 50,000, represented IHM Gangtok.
