There are three steps to follow to get into an IIM:

 Step 1- The first stage is appearing for the Common Aptitude Test or CAT Exam conducted by the IIMs (GMAT for international candidates).

 Step 2- After clearing the required cut-offs and the composite score, a candidate is called for a Written Test/Group Discussion and Personal Interview (PI). The candidate must provide 2 letters of recommendation from people who know them closely for academic and professional validation.

Step 3- The final offers of admission to candidates in each category will be made strictly on the basis of the final aggregate score, taking into account various weights such as work experience, gender, school board, etc.

IIM Tiruchirappalli admissions, it is compulsory to fulfil the eligibility criteria and clear the entrance exam. Eligible candidates can apply online. Moreover, PGPM and PGPM-HR admission process includes a valid score in the CAT exam, followed by a PI round. For PGDBM, candidates need to clear an entrance examination, conducted by IIM Trichy, followed by a PI round. Additionally, for the DPM programme, IIM Trichy accepts CAT/ GMAT/ GATE/ GRE/ UGC-JRF and for EDPM admission at IIM Trichy must have a qualified Research Aptitude Test (RAT) with a valid score. In order to gain admission to IIMs which accept IPMAT scores, candidates who appeared for IPMAT exam will be required to match the cutoff criteria after the IPMAT results are announced. The first phase of the IPM admissions includes registering for the IPMAT exam by filling out the IPMAT application form online and then appearing for the IPMAT exam. The IPMAT exam is conducted in the computer-based test mode and the students have to visit the exam centre to take the exam. Once the exam is over, IIM Indore, the exam conducting authority, will release the IPMAT results and cutoff. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check their scores by using their login credentials and check if they match the cutoff criteria announced by the IIM. If the candidates match the cut-off criteria for their category, then the students will have to register themselves for the counselling process at the institutes which accept IPMAT scores. Then the students will be called for the further selection process which includes Written Ability Test and Personal Interview.
