For admission to MBA programme at IIT-ISM Dhanbad, you need to have a qualifying CAT score, fitting the eligibility criteria, aptitude and skills to get through the rounds of selection process.

When it comes to petroleum engineering in particular, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has got no match all across India. If we talk about last 2-3 years, almost top 60% (GPA wise, good communication skills, good CV) of the total strength (100 - 110) got placement in core companies like Schlumberger, Shell, Cairn India, Halliburton etc. which is above Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakhs per annum. Rest of them have to accept either the placement offers of IT companies or have to go for further studies. There is a very little scope of off-campus placements in India. You have to first appear for CAT and then apply with the score card when the admission process starts in the college. Minimum qualifying marks in graduation are 50% for the general.

ISM is ranked 2nd in Asia for Earth Sciences and placements are very high paying and all major petroleum companies visit the campus, so in my opinion petroleum engineering.

Are you especially preparing for ISM only? In my opinion, you should prepare for CAT and then select the college according to your percentile in CAT. For CAT preparation, TIME and IMS are the best. All the best!
