IIT Roorkee admissions 2026 are open. A few more updates are given below:
- The JEE Advanced 2026 application forms are closed for admission to the BE/BTech course. The JEE Advanced exam 2026 will be conducted on May 17, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 session 2 result has been announced on the official website for IIT Roorkee admission to the BTech, BArch and BPlan courses.
- The GATE COAP 2026 registration link is active for admission to the ME/MTech programmes. The GATE COAP 2026 round 1 window to view offers and make a decision will be opened on May 11, 2026 (10 AM).
- The IIT JAM 2026 counselling registration is now over for admission to the MSc course. Students can submit their choices till May 6, 2026, with the first admission list to be declared tentatively on May 25, 2026.
- The CEED 2026 results for the MDes programme have been released. Students can access and download their scorecard until Jul 31, 2026, by logging in to the official website.

In the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, a student gets his/her tuition fee waived as per the following criteria.
Full Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to the most economically backward students having a family income of less than INR 1 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year.
2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver– Offered to economically backward students having a family income in the range of INR 1 LPA to INR 5 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year
The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year.
IIT Roorkee BTech cutoff 2024 has been released across multiple specialisations. Based on the Round 5 seat allotment, the BTech cutoff scores ranged between 481 and, 7286 for the General AII India category students. Among all the BTech specialisations, BTech in CSE is the most competitive specialisation. The Last Round for Computer Science and Engineering is 481 for the General AI category.

The IIT Roorkee cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 5 for BTech, Integrated BTech and BArch courses in the form of opening and closing ranks. As per cutoffs 2024, JEE Advanced rank is 19885 for the IIT Roorkee BArch course for General AI category. For female candidates in the general category under the All India quota, 19354 was the closing rank.
For 2022 and 2023, the Round 5 closing cutoff was 17464 and 20728, respectively for the General category students. So, comparing the 2024 Round 5 cutoff with the previous years, IIT Roorkee witnessed a fluctuating trend for BArch.
To be eligible for MBA admission at IIT Roorkee, candidates need to possess a graduation degree/ professional qualification in any stream from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).

IIT Roorkee placement process 2026 is ongoing and will conclude between April and May, 2026. During the first two days of Phase 1 placements 2026, more than 500 offers were made out of which 8 were international offers. IIT Roorkee has an active Training and Placement department that facilitates all types of placement-related activities. The Internship drive at IIT Roorkee for pre-final year students starts from August every year. PPTs and Tests of the placement drive begin from the last week of September. In addition, IIT Roorkee placement interviews start from the first week of December.

In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 Lacs per annum and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year the highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. The placement drive is still going on, so stats may fluctuate. In the year 2016, 88% students were placed last year. 12% placed in the core companies, 87% got placed in software companies and remaining 1% got placed in finance, analytics and consulting. The average package of under graduate course (ECE) was 15 Lacs per annum and in integrated dual degree (IDD) course was 13 Lacs per annum.

IIT Roorkee admission to its flagship courses BArch and BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling. For admission, students are required to apply for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission to IIT Roorkee BTech. The aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in).
Followed by JEE Main, students are required to register for JEE Advanced. Next, candidates have to fill in the registration form, upload scanned certificates, and pay the application fee. The photo and signature in the online JEE Advanced application form will already be populated from the JEE Main application form.
CAT exam usually takes place in the month of November. The registration has starts from August and the last date of application is auntil September.

IIT Roorkee is a government owned public technical university recognised as an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India. It was founded originally in 1847 & later converted into IIT in 2001 it is fully funded & governed by the central government which acts as seventh established IIT.
The library was established in 1848. The library is spread across an 85,000 sq. ft. area. It is a four-storeyed building. IIT Roorkee cutoff 2025 was released for admission to the MBA course for various categories. The cutoff was published in the form of opening and closing percentiles. As per the details for the General AI category, the overall percentile required was 95 and 50 percentile was needed for the Quants, VA

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.
