Hello Pratik,
In Maharashtra, the lateral admissions to directly second year of engineering are done based on the marks obtained in Diploma. Hence if you are desirous of a particular college then I would advise you to study well to score handsomely. This will ensure that you get admission where your heart is. You have to do PhD to become a lecturer. So PG doesn't have as importance as PhD.
