The technology institute offers PhD in four specialisations. The courses are available in Computer Science & Engineering, Physics (Space and Atmospheric Sciences), Mathematics, Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission to all the PhD courses is entrance-based. Aspirants must check the eligibility criteria before form filling.

The candidates with a valid BTech degree in ECE/CS/IT/EE or related disciplines, MCA, or an MSc/MS in ECE/CS/IT/EE or related disciplines with at least 60% aggregate are eligible to take admission. In addition, there is no age limit. Eligible students can further fill out the application form and take the admission test. The total seat intake for IIIT Kalyani Executive MTech programmes is 60. The seat intake for each of the specialisations is 30. This seat intake is further as per the information brochures available on the IIIT Kalyani official website. Moreover, IIIT Kalyani reserves the right to revise seat intake. The seat count mentioned here is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is however, subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

Aspirants who passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject with 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST candidates) are eligible to take admission. Candidates must have the relevant documents for verification purposes at the time of form filling/admission.
