No, though this college has a legacy of more than 75 years, today it's not the best engineering college in Jabalpur. Once the pride of place in Jabalpur, the quick footedness of private institutions have left it behind. It still is ranked third best in Jabalpur. It's teachers are renowned for their competency and it's improving it's placement record.

Hello, it has been observed that Govt colleges are laggards when it comes to seeking NIRF ranking. This is perhaps so since the framework demands too much information on varied aspects of the functioning of the institute. It seems that Jabalpur College of Engineering too falls in this category. However, to be fair, the college has now submitted the required documents and one can expect some ranking by NIRF. Be that as it may, the college has quite a good reputation for academics and placements and is considered the 3rd best college among all engineering colleges in Jabalpur.
