No, don't drop a year just for JEE Mains. Drop only if you are targeting JEE Advance and if you want IITs. Still if you are confident enough that you can do very well in JEE Mains next year and are sure to get top NITs, then only drop the year otherwise it's a waste of time.

If you want to qualify JEE Mains then it is not necessary to take coaching. But if you are targeting JEE Advance and have taken a year's drop for only IITs then you should go for coaching. Preparation for JEE Mains is not that difficult. It just requires consistency and sitting hours. Focus thoroughly on class 11th and 12th.

No, it's not a wise idea. Go for coaching along with your studies. Both have the same syllabus. A proper mock test will help you get a good score along with your studies.

Hello Harsh,
Please look at the reality. You say you have dropped one year for preparing for JEE Mains. Can you get better results if study along with B.Sc? But you can always try. Yes, admissions in IIM are given to graduates of different disciplines.

The best you can do is study arts or political science and prepare for banking and civil services. You can also go for forensic science, cyber security, web development or data scientist courses which do not require a degree and these graduates are working well across the world without any degree.
Best of luck.
