To get admission into a good government college in Chennai or Tamil Nadu you need to apply for single window counselling under Anna University. If you have a good aggregate marks in PCM out of 200 (may be 190/200), then you may get a good government college or affiliated colleges.

Hi,
Obviously, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) is better than Vel Tech University to pursue civil engineering as well as the other branches of engineering. It has a good reputation and the placements are also good.

Hi,
The admission is also dependent on your caste. If you belong to general category, then your cut off should be at least 198 or above. For BC, you need to have a cut off of 196 or above.
For MBC, you need to have 190 and above.
For SC it is 185 and above and for ST it is 180 and above.
These are for CEG campus only. If you have a good cut off then you can get the other colleges under Anna University.
