The novel COVID-19 virus creates respiratory illness such as viral pneumonia, resulting in high fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The study published in the journal Radiology found that chest X-ray feature can help in early detection and diagnosis of the virus. LPU researchers develop cloud-based tech that can detect COVID-19, Researchers have developed an easy-to-use AI-powered interface that claims to detect COVID-19. The cloud-based web interface scans radiology reports such as CT scan or X-Rays. The AI system can enable doctors and medical staff in even remotest villages of the country to get quick results. The technology developed by researchers from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab can study CT Scans and X-Rays as part of the global efforts to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic. The cloud-based web interface is connected to an AI model at a centralised server which processes the image received from the web portal and sends the results. Researchers note that no extra technical skills are required to use this portal. The AI model was trained and tested over 13,000 chest radiography images. The portal is capable of hosting any AI model that is preferred by a hospital. It can detect the infection as well as the extent to which it has affected the patient. Here, I will brief about the overall ranking of LPU. LPU is ranked 47th among all Government and Private Universities in India as per NIRF. In World University ranking 2023 LPU is ranked 23rd amongst Top Universities of India (Both Government & Private). LPU is ranked 6th globally and 2nd in India under the SDG, Affordable & Clean Energy, as per Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022. The prestigious WURI Rankings 2022 has ranked LPU 2nd in India among the Top Ivy League universities. In our very first attempt, we have secured a global band of 101-200. Apart from these, LPU have received many more ranking by various International and National regulatory bodies.

LPU does provide for study abroad options. There are various types of programmes designed for studies abroad depending on the discipline and students' choice
1- Summer /Winter School: Here you will have an option to go abroad and study during your summer and winter breaks
2- Semester Exchange: This wonderful opportunity gives you an exposure to study any one semester abroad at any of the partner Universities paying fees only as per LPU fee structure.
3- International Credit Transfer: In this design you have an opportunity of dividing your discipline into halves I. e (suppose for a 4 years course) 2 years with LPU and next 2 years with foreign partner University and getting your degree from that respective University.

Yes definitely, hostellers are allowed to visit outside the campus but there are certain rules and regulations which a student needs to consider and follow. It is just same, when the child is at home and parents bind them with some rules to be followed which are for their own safety. Every parent invests their trust in the institute, for the safety of their ward, so it is the responsibility of the University to manage the student by imposing some rules. A student has to mark a biometric attendance while entering or exiting the hostel. Boys have more relaxations in relation to time duration compared to the girl. For example, Boys has to come back and mark their presence by 7 PM whereas Girls need to come back in the hostel by 6 PM. Security guards, cctv cameras all are for their security purpose.
