Yes, you can apply for M.Sc after completing the graduation degree in physics, The IIT JAM exam is held for admission into M.Sc. Ph.D. and other integrated courses from IITs, NITs or IISc institutes, The eligible candidates can apply for the exam in October- November months. The IIT JAM exam is organized in six subjects that are physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, geology, and mathematical statistics. You must have fulfilled the complete eligibility criteria and information from the official website. If you have a physics subject in your graduation for 6 seems or 3 years, you can apply for the IIT JAM exam to get admission

Don't go for Masters through distance mode. It will not having much value in future. For information about validity of degree check the accreditation of university.
