Opportunities for Entrepreneurship

• Innovation, Research & Entrepreneurship School (IRE School)
  The IRE School offers a unique curriculum for students interested in learning more about generating startup ideas, business planning and developing their own innovation, through workshops and practicum.
• Post Graduate Program of Innovation, Research & Entrepreneurship (PGPIRE)
  The PGPIRE Program focuses on helping students develop an entrepreneurial mindset by working on developing new business ideas and getting them to prototypes.
• Innovation and Entrepreneurship Labs
  Students have the opportunity to work with faculty and alumni on developing real startup and business models.
• Live Business Activity on Campus (Campuz Biz)
  Students get to run and operate an actual business on campus, where they will handle pricing, customers, sales, and profits.
• IRE Talks and Guest Speakers
  Students may meet and interact with other entrepreneurs and industry experts to receive advice, inspiration and make contacts/networking.
• IRE Conference and Competitions
  Events held where students can pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges for awards and exposure to companies and investors.
• Incubation and Innovation Support through IRE
  We assist students make the transition from an idea to a prototype to a startup through Innovation Cells and mentoring. 

The assessment methods at GIBS Business School are different from the typical assessment methods of writing tests. Instead, the institute uses practical and continuous evaluation techniques for measuring students' actual abilities and readiness to work in the industry.

Assessment Methods Other Than Written Tests

• Students completing 'live' projects and internships will be assessed on their actual work with a company and how they performed in that work.
• Students will have to give presentations and participate in seminars to demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively, their level of confidence, and how well they understand the subject matter.
• Students will have to analyze actual business cases and will be graded on how they solved the problem in the case.
• Students will complete group projects and team-building assignments where they will be assessed on their teamwork and leadership abilities.
• The CPMP is a continual evaluation of students' soft skills, such as communication, personality, and professionalism.
• Through role playing and simulating different business situations, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their decision-making skills.
• Classroom participation and activities will include classroom discussions, quizzes, and other interaction-based methods of evaluation.
• Students will complete written assignments and research projects as a means of assessing their ability to learn from their analytical and research experience.

These methods of evaluating are used in most business schools today to assess students' practical skills, ability to work with others, and their ability to apply knowledge in real-life situations, rather than just through theoretical means.

Through its combination of skills development, practical sessions, and continuous mentoring, GIBS Business School builds the confidence and professionalism of its students. Students receive communication training, personality development, aptitude programs, and corporate etiquette workshops that prepare them for presentations, body language, and how to behave in the workplace as part of their academic study.

When students participate in group discussions, practice interviews, and deliver presentations on a regular basis, they will develop confidence and have less fear of public speaking. Group activities, clubs, events, and leadership roles expose students to teamwork, decision-making, and being accountable for their actions.

The combination of internships, live projects, and exposure to professionals working in different industries will prepare students for the corporate environment and to understand what is expected of them as professionals. All of this will provide students with confidence and a positive, professional attitude.

The GIBS Business School has a structured ecosystem in place to support students interested in entrepreneurship (i.e. innovation, mentoring, and practical experience with a startup). The programme is called the Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship Program (IRE) and involves studentsʼ working with faculty and industry mentors on their entrepreneurial business ideas/research projects/startup ideas.

Students in IRE have the ability to attend workshops on entrepreneurship, attend mentorship sessions for startups, participate in business plan competitions, and network with successful entrepreneurs & investors (i.e. GIBS creates an environment to help students connect with other entrepreneurs and learn from them).

In addition, GIBS encourages students to participate in live projects, internships at startups, and incubation-style activities so they can test their ideas.

By supporting aspiring entrepreneurs in this manner, GIBS helps students develop problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and gain experience launching and managing a business before they even graduate.

The GIBS Placement Cell aims to create a placement process that encourages transparency, structure and student orientation. Each student in the programme has knowledge of the eligibility criteria, important dates, recruitment guidelines and expectations, from the very beginning. Student has a clear pathway with clearly identified sections of the placement process, including resume preparation, mock interviews, group discussions and company shortlisting; therefore, they know what to prepare for and when. The Placement Team keeps you constantly updated on upcoming drives, participating companies and the profiles for the company's roles and gathers your feedback to improve the placement process. The student is notified in advance of the shortlisting and interviewing schedule; therefore, student has the necessary resources during the entire process from pre-placement to final offer negotiation. The placement process provides the structure, transparency, and sufficiency of the student will to enable and ultimately increase the student's opportunity to secure a good job.

The internship and live project experience are important components of the GIBS Curriculum because they allow students to connect academic study with practical application in the workplace. Internships provide students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working at a company, learn more about the culture of the organisation and apply theories learned in class to solve challenges faced by businesses.

Live projects provide students with an opportunity to work on real-time issues that the industry is dealing with; students will be required to analyze data, create strategies and make presentations to industry professionals on how they would approach these problems. These hands-on experiences help develop students' problem-solving skills, improve their decision-making abilities, build teamwork skills and confidence.

Additionally, the internship and live project experience gives students an advantage in creating a strong resume and enhances their employability by providing them with experience working in the industry prior to graduation.

The biggest shock for me after starting at GIBS was the immense amount of practical learning and real business exposure that we received. The college actively engages us with guests speakers (who are often corporate leaders), and they take us on site visits to local businesses, have us do live projects, and provide access to personal mentors. The amazing support system (staff) and personal attention provided by the faculty, as well as their focus on developing skills, leadership ability, and personal growth all stand out as very different from what I expected from typical business schools. It's apparent that GIBS is very much not a traditional business school, but a school that is genuinely preparing students for the realities of the working world.

Students frequently express how much they enjoy being part of a lively and sophisticated atmosphere on the GIBS Campus. With state-of-the-art facilities such as air-conditioned digital classrooms, Wi-Fi, innovation labs and auditoriums combined with outdoor green spaces, sports areas and relaxation areas, there is a wonderful balance between study life and student life. Many students appreciate that they can use the same facilities as Corporate Professionals while attending classes, working on group projects, attending events, and relaxing with friends. The combination of professional amenities and a vibrant campus environment helps provide a very enjoyable, comfortable and motivating experience at college on a daily basis.
