GIBS Fostering a Supportive Environment for Career Development

The GIBS Business School understands that the pressure of placement preparation can be overwhelming, and therefore provides a supportive environment through a comprehensive student-centred approach to career development and mental wellness.

• Structured Placement Preparation

GIBS takes a strategic approach to the placement preparation process by distributing it throughout the entire academic year, as opposed to cramming everything into the end of the year. Through this process, students develop their self-confidence through the use of workshops, mock interviews, group discussions, aptitude testing and interactions with employers so that they are less likely to experience panic and stress as they approach their placements.

• Emotional and Personal Support

The faculty, mentors and placement staff at GIBS take an active role in encouraging the student, providing one-on-one supportive guidance and helping them to set realistic goals that keep them on track and focused. With this type of personal attention, students are able to better manage their anxiety and stay focused and motivated on their placement preparation.

• Peer and Alumni Support

The peer study group and alumni sessions, combined with the mentorship circles give students an opportunity to collaborate and share their experiences with one another and gain an understanding of how to cope with the challenges of placement preparation.

• Mentoring and Counselling

Communication is key at GIBS, where students are encouraged to talk openly and be able to seek career guidance as well as emotional support from their faculty and counsellors, which makes students feel supported in every aspect of their education and prepares them for placement success.

• Campus Environment

The natural environment of the Mind Valley campus at GIBS, an expanse of green, also promotes wellness, providing students with opportunities to create spaces for relaxation, reflection, recreation, yoga and sports, which helps to relieve the stress related to the pressures of academic course work and placement preparation.

Combining these elements of systematic preparation, active support and an understanding of the importance of wellness will create a healthy and productive environment at GIBS.

Overall, GIBS has received positive feedback regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of its classrooms, bathroom facilities, and common areas by both students and reviewers alike. Many students feel that bathrooms should be regularly cleaned to maintain cleanliness, while hallways and classrooms are trash free thanks to the regular housekeeping visible even during breaks creating a modern, inviting setting for long periods of studying throughout the entire day. Daily and regular cleaning, along with regular housekeeping, keeps classrooms, hallways, and shared spaces clean while creating a clean and comfortable campus environment. Additionally, dormitory/resident dormitory areas have been reported to be clean, properly ventilated, and well maintained with ongoing housekeeping/sanitisation. Overall, the university/community environmentally based campus supports a sanitary environment in both academic and residential facilities, allowing students to remain focused during their studies at GIBS.

The GIBS IRE / GIBS Talks Podcast is a series of podcast episodes featuring practical conversations with industry leaders, startup founders, and business professionals about their journey through learning and developing their mindset, as well as the failures and successes they've had in the entrepreneurial aspect of their careers. The format of these podcasts is based more on a realistic view than a purely theoretical one, making the content relatable and valuable to students in their respective career paths. Full episodes are available on the GIBS Business School YouTube page, while short clips of the episodes are also available on all of GIBS Business School's social media channels.
Episodes are typically released weekly with new guest speakers providing insight into the various industries and helping students continue to learn and stay inspired throughout their studies in the academic year.
