No criteria, per say. But yes, generally media houses are on a lookout of students who are studying journalism. Students pursuing graduation/post graduation in English/Hindi are also preferred. But if you have nose for news and command over your language, irrespective of the subject you're studying, media houses welcome you aboard as an intern.

Hi Krishnan,
Post Graduate Diploma or PG Diploma in Mass Communication is of recent origin. The education under it is not imparted at undergraduate level nor is it a two years masters course. It's a diploma which one can pursue after finishing his/her bachelor's education. He has to devote just one year after his graduation to gain access to different mediums (print, radio, television and internet).
A graduate from any stream can pursue this course but at the end of the course, he would be conferred with a diploma and not a degree. The contents of this course are similar to the contents of bachelors and masters programs but are complete

Yes, any student having an aggregate percentage of 50 is eligible to get an admission of journalism and mass communication, both UG and PG.

I hope you are doing well. As it's a graduation course, you need to complete class 12th from any stream and must have at least 60% marks, it's the eligibility criteria to get admission for BA mass communication and journalism in Mahatma Gandhi University, Chennai.

Hi Arpita, Many colleges and universities requires minimum 45%-55% marks for applying in UG or PG courses respectively. Generally, they ask current affairs and general English including regional language based questions.

To pursue Bachelors of Journalism and Mass Communication, minimum eligibility is 10+2 with minimum 50% marks. But keep in mind few things, here marks do not really matter Journalism demands creative heads and hardworking body. You must have good command over the language.

The basic eligibility for admission to MA in Mass Communication is a Bachelor degree in any stream of minimum 3 years duration. It is not compulsory to have a Bachelor degree in Journalism or Mass communication but it certainly gives an edge.
There is no restriction with respect to stream of education in graduation. However, certain universities do not accept application from students who belong to Engineering or Medical streams.
