Mass communication has a very good scope in the film industry because films are not only about acting and direction… they are also about how you connect with the audience. The industry depends a lot on communication, publicity and the way a story is presented to people.
With a mass comm background, you can get into many areas like screen writing, PR for films, production work, film promotions, media handling, social media for actors, and even journalism related to movies.
