UGC and universities decide on the requirements of subjects that a student must pass to get a degree of B.A. Or B.Sc. Or B.Com etc. In national education policy, lots of freedom

Yes, it doesn't require deep math skills but you should be strong at basic math like Algebra Trigonometry Calculus (Limits, differentials and Integrals Matrices and Functions.
