MBA and MCA courses were conducted by many institutes which required AICTE approval but the Honourable Supreme Court of India declared in a recent judgment around last week of April 2013 that the AICTE can only ACT in an advisory capacity and not a governing body which is the UGC only. The main aim after doing the course is one or more of the following :
To have a legal, legitimate, and valid degree
To join the public sector
To join private sector job
To study further in India or abroad
To be self-employed
If you are joining a UGC-approved university course, even if it is not approved by AICTE you will not suffer on any of the above accounts. So to summarize the above it can be said that although you can get admission to an AICTE approved course, if you are studying at the campus of a university recognized by UGC, then the course is equally valid. So totally UGC or AICTE is compulsory but not both.

Both have very good infrastructure, Faculty, placements it's hard to compare still I must say if you can get a chance in SDA Bocconi don't leave it. The only thing you need to be worried about is that AICTE is cracking down firmly on B-Schools that are offering Foreign unauthorized programs that are not approved by AICTE. And a pure PGDM is really not that valued by corporations in India and Abroad. SDA Bocconi Italy is one of the few schools to have this triple crown accreditation but The degree isn't AICTE approved. NMIMS Bangalore has been approved by the 'All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)' in the year 2016.
