Work experience do matter but it's not the only factor that decides admission in MBA colleges. Your academics, internship, other skills etc. Also matter. Moreover the weightage of entrance exam score, GD, PI in combined is more.

To respond to your questions, I suggest primary information is always best. Always consider speaking to Alumnus of a college for a review and status of placements for a democratic view.
