Mechanical Engineering deals with the concepts of mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, kinematics, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, power sector, refrigeration, air conditioning sector and aerospace. It applies the principles of physics and material Science for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. Through innovation and inventions, it has given humanity at large comfort and safety for life. Mechanical engineers are required to design, test, manufacture, install, operate and maintain a wide array of machines and mechanical systems that are used in industries. This field of engineering is the broadest of all engineering fields, job prospects on offer for skilled engineers are plenty and unending. Nowadays the scope of mechanical engineering is expanding beyond its traditional boundaries and is more of inter-disciplinary in nature. Mechanical engineers are focusing their attention towards new areas such as nanotechnology, development of composite materials, biomedical applications, and environmental conservation. PCTE Institute of Engineering & Technology, Ludhiana has developed state of the art infrastructure, workshops and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering discipline, taking into consideration the requirements of industry and research organisation. In addition to classes, the Institute organizes regular Guest Lectures delivered by Industry Experts and arranges industrial visits for both faculty and students. The Institute has adopted Project based learning (PBL) which integrates knowing and doing. Students learn knowledge and elements of the core curriculum, but also apply what they know to solve authentic problems and produce results that matter.
