If you are genuinely interested in Mechanical Engineering, LPU can be a reasonable choice. The university offers good lab facilities like CAD/CAM, robotics, and manufacturing labs, along with opportunities to participate in competitions like Baja and Formula Student. You also get exposure through internships, workshops, and industry projects, which helps in skill development.

On the downside, core mechanical placements are comparatively limited, and many students shift to IT or non-core roles. So, it works best if you actively build skills and projects on your own. Overall, it's good but your effort matters a lot.

Yes, some specialised departments have a more selective intake to ensure personalised attention and better lab access. BTech course in Mechanical Engineering and BTech Instrumentation and Control offer 60 seats each. This smaller batch size often allows for better interaction between students and professors during complex practical workshops and research projects.

For Mechanical Engineering at Lovely Professional University (LPU), the placement record is decent but usually lower compared to CSE.

  • Average package: around ₹4–5 LPA

  • Typical offers for many students: ₹3–4.5 LPA

  • Higher packages: possible for top students, though fewer compared to CSE

Recruiters usually include companies from manufacturing, automotive, and engineering sectors such as Tata Motors, Mahindra, Bosch, L&T, and other industrial firms. Many mechanical students also get roles in production, design, quality control, and maintenance.

When you ask if CU (Chandigarh University) is better than LPU (Lovely Professional University) for Mechanical Engineering, the honest answer depends on what exactly you are looking for in your degree, and as an LPU student myself I can tell you it's not a simple yes or no, but a comparison based on a few key points. Chandigarh University generally has a strong reputation in core engineering disciplines with a curriculum that often focuses more on traditional mechanical engineering concepts, industry exposure through internships, and collaborations with manufacturing and automotive companies; many students and alumni say that CU's train

Mechanical Engineering generally has wider scope than Automobile Engineering at LPU because it covers a broader range of industries such as manufacturing, energy, robotics, thermal systems and even automotive. The core curriculum supports careers in design, production, maintenance and R&D across multiple sectors, which helps students stay flexible in job choices. Automobile Engineering is more focused on vehicles, engines and automotive systems, so opportunities are largely confined to the auto and allied industries. In the current LPU structure, Mechanical Engineering offers stronger multi‑industry placement exposure and more option
