The JEE Main cutoff ranks are what we expect among the General category to take the placement into Mechanical Engineering at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET). As to Other State (OS) quota, it is commonly within 41,681 and 78,847. The anticipated range of the Home State (HS) quota goes further to reach about 140811 to 291238. All the Mechanical Engineering colleges in India follow a balanced approach as a part of their curriculum where there are semester exams every 6 months to test the students' understanding of the Mechanical Engineering subjects, along with individual and group research projects and presentations, and class assignments.

The bifurcation is usually 60-40% or 30-70%, where the theory-based exams hold more weightage, followed by the practical component and assignments.
