Ophthalmology is the branch of medical science concerning the anatomy, physiology and diseases of human eyes. A professional in the field with a degree in ophthalmology courses is called as an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmology has ample career prospects. Both private and government sectors recruit at least one ophthalmologist in the hospitals run by them. Apart from this, they are required in charitable hospitals, non-governmental organizations and missionary hospitals. Private nursing homes and clinics offer handsome salary package for the ophthalmologist. Ophthalmology courses provide a base for setting up of own eye clinics, which are more profitable for them.

Salary: Medical laboratory technicians may earn around Rs.8K to Rs.10K per month, when starting off. Starting salary depends on numerous factors such as job profile, profile of the employer, skills of employee, employee qualification and job location. In case of government job, the salary will depend on grade of the employee and the pay band meant for that particular grade.
