The syllabus of JMI BPT entrance exam is more focused on Physics, Chemistry and Biology that includes topics up to the level of Class 12th. Biology usually includes 50 percent marks, 25 percent marks each to Physics and Chemistry.Usually older papers are also available in the official Jamia Millia Islamia site (jmicoe.in) in the section of the "Entrance Test Syllabus" or "Previous Year Question Papers". These papers are also often made available on other learning sites and specialised JMI entrance preparation websites (such as jmientrance.com) with or without solutions.

In West Bengal, a MBBS degree is required after which an MS or DNB in General Surgery should be acquired in order to secure admission to an M.Ch. or DrNB in Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS). The main entrance test is NEET SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Super Specialty) and you must succeed obtaining a good score in this test. Seats after NEET SS are then allotted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) in All India Quota and state-wise counselling of West Bengal quota seats is possible. The most important centers providing CTVS in West Bengal are Medical College Kolkata, IPGMER and NRS Medical College.

Top 10 government medical colleges in Maharashtra would be like KEM Mumbai, GSMC Mumbai, BJMC Pune, Lokmanya Tilak Sion, Grant Medical, IGMC Nagpur, GMC Aurangabad, GMC Miraj, VMMC Solapur and RCSM Kolhapur. These have good patient flow, solid faculty and decent PG options too.
