The scope of mining engineering is similar to the number invented by Aryabhatta. Choose Mining if none of the better options are available. Mining should be your last choice. Mining is not the best choice but you can always change your path in the long race and of course, you can use your mining degree as a tool for moving ahead. In my opinion, CS EE and EC branches would provide you far better opportunities than mining. So choose mining, if it is your one and only last available option. Do like if the answer is helpful.

Mining engineering at VNIT has a good scope as the college sources Engineers required for many coal fields in nearby areas. In fact that was the reason for starting Mining engineering course in 1982. Yes, you can get direct admission by management quota.

You have to write the ECET exam. It is the entrance exam for engineering through Diploma. By this you can join in engineering. All the best.

Plastic Engineering, Metallurgy and Mining Engineering are all great courses. They all have promising careers. I myself am a graduate in Plastic Engineering so I can assure you that there are a lot of opportunities in this branch. As for Metallurgy, it is also a good branch if you can find a good college. Mining is also very good branch. Mining Engineers are in a lot of demand in Eastern and Central India.

After class 12th, you can go for B.Tech in Mining Engineering branch. There are many institutes offering this course. ISM-Dhanbad is one of the best institutes for mining engineering.
