Candidates must appear for a paper that is relevant to the desired teaching level. The syllabus of the MP TET is based on the subjects covered in the Primary and Upper Primary School Curriculum. The objective of the syllabus is to test the candidates' knowledge, understanding and pedagogical ability related to the subjects. However, minor changes or additions in the syllabus may be made from time to time depending on the development of the education sector and the demands of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The MP PEB administers the MP TET Examination and determines the eligibility criteria, examination pattern, syllabus, etc. The syllabus of MP TET Exam follows the topics included in the Primary and Upper Primary School Curriculum.
