No, GATE and net exams are not required to study law in madras law college after the graduation. The entrance exam is different. Please go through the prospectus provided by the college once.

Yes, you are eligible for NET exam. The SET and NET exams are held for the selection of candidates for lectureship and junior research fellowship. The difference between the NET and SET is that SET is eligible for state level universities hence called state eligibility test while NET qualified candidates are eligible for National level universities or colleges and stands for National eligibility test. To appear for NET exam, you must have post graduation degree. As you have cleared SET exam, you are eligible to apply for assistant professor posts in the state level institutes, universities. There will be two papers in exam I. e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam will be held of total 3 hours OF 300 marks. There will be no negative marking. So, this was the pattern of the UGC NET Exam. The exam is conducted twice a year by NTA (June and December). You can apply for any of these two sessions to appear in exam
