Northwestern Michigan College is an open admissions policy institution. Open admission colleges typically have minimal admission thresholds, admitting all applicants provided they meet certain minimum requirements. Applicants must have a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent. A GPA of a minimum 2.0 is recommended. SAT/ACT scores are not required, but if submitted, then they may be considered, and international students are required to have English proficiency test scores. There are no interviews for admission to the college. So it is relatively easy to get into Northwestern Michigan College.

Students highlight the small class sizes. Students like the beautiful campus. The Main Campus is just a few blocks away from Lake Michigan, and the Great Lakes Campus offers views of Grand Traverse Bay. Students highlight that the teachers are caring and supportive. The professors are very well educated and take the time to really let the students grasp the material in the courses. Most students review mention that the tuition rates are very reasonable with good education quality. There are people of all ages, so it is inclusive and creates a sense of great community.

Application process at Northwestern Michigan College-
Complete the online application.
Submit all the supporting documents including-
- Original bank documents with the least amount of $25,130.
- Financial support form which is available on the college website.
- Photocopy of passport.
- Original secondary school and/or college transcripts, diplomas, and exit exam scores officially translated into English.
- English proficiency test scores.
Candidates can upload these documents on the application portal or they can mail it to admissions@nmc.edu. Once the documents are received, the college can request original documents at any point.

According to Niche and EduRank, the acceptance rate of Northwestern Michigan College is 100%. A few unofficial websites show the acceptance rate as 55%. Northwestern Michigan College is a publicly funded community college with an open admission policy. So it seems to be a less competitive college.
