In India, there is overflow of Software Engineers in IT feild. In that scanerio, making the career in Operating Systems is not an easy task. You have to work harder and harder. You are already enrolled in a Computer Science program, so simply stick to it. Don't overspecialize just yet, but certainly take classes you find interesting. There is no standard academy benchmark to learn OS. There are many operating systems out there like Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mac OS.
I would suggest you to go and take a course of Server-Client infrastructure of Windows, Linux, Unix or Mac. Also, before you get into Server-Client infrastructure of Windows, taking a course on Hardware and Networking is better, where you will get to know the basic OS knowledge. Apart from Server OS, you should be familiar with client OS. You must be aware that mobile devices have their own OS as well like Android and IOS.

A shell is an interface between the user and the services of operating systems. In UNIX or other Linux based operating system, shells like bash and korn support programming construct which are saved as scripts. These scripts become shell commands and hence many Linux commands are script. Typical use of a shell script would be to automate what is required and present it in a desirable manner.
Generally scripts can be used to achieve several tasks. Listed only a few:
