I would rather recommend you to go for security specialist professionals. These jobs are highly payable and in high demand as most companies need them to protect their own data.
This requires knowledge of computer networking. As you've mentioned that you will be opting for software engineering, I would suggest, you should opt for security specialist course during or after your third year of engineering, as by then, the basics required for security specialist course would have been covered in your engineering syllabus.
You can go to some reputed computer training institutes like NIIT, etc. You can go for Java courses followed

If you want to make your career only in IT field with some application development then select BCA. If you want some extra knowledge then go with B.Sc in computer science because it is a very big field. Computer science field is a combination of IT, mathematics (computing), statistics, hardware, graphics, electronics and many more fields.
BCA restricts you only to application development, database and web development, while with B.Sc, you can do some extra ordinary things.

Science along with computers opens up a lot of career options for a student. For example, if you are interested in the computer hardware manufacturing sector (let's say fiber optical wire), it requires knowledge of chemistry and physics. Where chemistry decides which material to choose for manufacturing the wire, physics decides the angle of protecting the signal, modulating it to analog mode for long transmission. Point is both are interdependent on each other.
I hope this answers your question. If you have any further questions, kindly revert.

The most important thing which you will need is high grades to be considered for admissions. GRE is optional and not even required by most Universities. International applicants must submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. Admissions are very selective and is mostly done on the basis of academic scores only.
It is good for you if you know or learn German language.
1. Jacobs University Bremen.
2. ULM University,
3. RWTH Aachen and
4. Passau University are some of the best known for Computer Science studies.
Good Luck.
