Students have a mix of positive and negative experiences in Hood. Student reviews mention that the staff and professors are incredibly supportive and facilities appear top-notch. Students like that the campus is small and clean. Many reviews appreciate the college for affordability reasons. Students like the small, intimate learning environment and consider it one of Hood's most impactful qualities. Some reviews show concern about the food quality.

Applicants taking SAT exam with accommodations should:
- Carry their SSD eligibility letter at all costs.
- Ensure they have permission for extended breaks.
- In case of extra time request, ensure that it is met.
- Applicants shoukd ensure that they stay on for their extended break or time request on the test day.
All these pointers will be applicable only if parents of the disabled applicants check the test centre, fulfil documentation before hand so that no documentation is required on the test day and ensure the dates of SAT exam are confirmed prior.

Applicants with disabilities can opt for accommodations to appear for SAT exam. At the test centre, accommodation applicants can get the following priviledges:
- Overall SAT's time and a half (that is, +50% time or 3 hours and 21 minutes + breaks)
- Double time (that is, and additional 100% time or 4 hours and 28 minutes + breaks)
- Extra breaks based on requirements for 5 minutes only
- Extended breaks again based on requirements for 20 minutes only
- Breaks as needed based on valid reason.

International students are not eligible for full-tuition scholarships at Hood College. A comprehensive evaluation of all submitted application materials is used to determine scholarships. Scholarships can be awarded for a maximum of eight semesters and are renewable for the duration of the student's undergraduate studies at Hood. At the time of admission, all international students will be reviewed for one of the following scholarship levels:
• Trustee Scholarship – $30,000 per year
• Presidential Scholarship – $28,000 per year
• Dean Scholarship – $24,000 per year
• Leadership Award – $20,000 per year

Getting into Hood College is not very difficult. It has an acceptance rate of 78%. Hood College works on a test-optional policy so standardized test scores are not mandatory. Students with high school diplomas are eligible to apply. International students need to submit English proficiency test scores. Some programs might have specific requirements.
