The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is known for its Upstream, Gas and chemical engineering. Although other conventional branches such as mechanical, electrical, electronics etc. Are on the rise now and are doing well. So the difference between Petroleum and non Petroleum branches is getting dwarfed there (due to university's increased focus on non Petroleum branches too).
Around 3K you can hope for upstream, but chances are there that you may get waitlisted, not to forget I have myself seen waitlists getting cleared in UPES, I would say.
Attend the counselling, be flexible, observe the trend, choose ur branch accordi
