The entrance tests and the merit list created by the individual colleges or universities are the main selection criteria for B.Tech admission in India. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers JEE Main, the most popular entrance exam for admission to B.Tech programmes, twice a year. The entrance exam for JEE Advanced, which opens doors to the esteemed Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), is JEE Main.Depending on the college, subject, category, and candidate's state, different minimum JEE scores may be needed for admission to B.Tech programmes. Generally speaking, though, in order to be considered for admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), applicants must receive at least 75% of their class 12 marks or rank in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. SC/ST candidates must have earned at least 65% of the possible points in class 12. Nonetheless, some states that recognise JEE Main scores for admission to B.Tech programmes, such Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, etc., may have lower requirements for class 12 grades.JEE Main is not the only entrance exam for B.Tech admission; there are several entrance exams at the state and national levels, including MHT CET, BITSAT, Andhra Pradesh EAMCET, SRMJEEE, WBJEE, VITEEE, UPSEE, and others. Every exam has a different set of requirements, curriculum, format, and deadline. Applicants are free to select the exam that best suits their needs and preferences. More information about the B.Tech admissions procedure and the requirements for admission can be found on the entrance exam websites.

At Ajeenkya DY Patil University, the School of Engineering provides a 4-year BE/BTech programme at the undergraduate level. Among the various branches, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) boasts superior placement opportunities, primarily due to the attractive salary packages offered by numerous technology companies. Graduates specializing in CSE also have the advantage of pursuing IT roles, a pathway not available to Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) graduates. However, ECE graduates may receive diverse placement offers as they have the option to choose between IT and core positions. The field of CSE is acknowledged for its extensive prospects, offering specializations such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing. On the other hand, ECE may present better opportunities for government jobs, while CSE tends to offer a broader scope within the private sector.
