I think you should take the seat and pursue it in spite of taking a year drop. Every single academic year is very important, so don't take risk of taking a drop. Second thing, it will be a quite better option than Nirma University. Do anything but don't go for a drop.

I cannot compare both the colleges but I can tell you some specific points about JIIT if you are considering a decent CS/IT college:
1) JIIT I. e. Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida - provides quality education in the field of IT and is considered best in DELHI/NCR.
2) Being specifically an Information Technology college, the education imparted and the curriculum is amazing
3) The infrastructure is great. We have amazing faculty members and amazing Computer Labs.
4) The LRC (Learning Resource Centre) which is our library is piled up with books of every domain.
5) The subjects which are taught are always set according to the contemporary trend in the field of IT
6) Placements stats are great. We have over 100% placement records for the past decade
For Nirma University, you must search online about the above-mentioned points, to get the overview and compare them to choose the best one.

Hi Kohinoor, yes, you can get admission in Haldia Institute of Technology. Your JEE Mains score is good enough to get you a seat in this college. You should select this college at the time of counseling. Your preferred branches should be information technology, electronics engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering etc.

You can not get admission in this college with 51 percentile in JEE Mains exam. Although you can try for management quota admission. The details of management quota will be available in the campus. You can visit the campus for detailed enquiry.
