The question is incomplete, because it has not been mentioned the intentions and basic reason of asking the question. Both institutions are different and so their area of education. BIT, Sindri is a very old institution, (say more than 60 years) and well known for its excellence and achievements. It's a government run institution with almost all major core branches, good faculty members with cheaper education. Whereas CUSAT is autonomous with main focus on marine, environmental science, with some marketable core branches. It is a little bit costlier too. So if anyone has inclination for specific branches which is not available at BIT, should opt for CUSAT. Else, for core branches BIT is better in all respects.

In my opinion, VIT is better for mechanical than BIT Sindri because VIT provides good course curriculum and good mechanical faculty members also.

For Mechanical engineering, I would suggest you go for Thapar Institute as it has better lab facilities, infrastructure, experienced faculty members and a better curriculum. I don't know much about Sindi so can't comment on that, but BIT is losing its name and values day-by-day so it's a no according to me. Rest is your own decision, do a proper research and decide wisely. All the best!

It is hard to compare because both are good colleges. But if I were at your place then I will go for BIT-Dhanbad as it has good infrastructure and campus environment.

I guess there is no such criteria unlike in other colleges where if your CGPA is high enough you can opt for a branch change. You should consult the office personnel for a better outlook on the matter.

First, solve all previous year's papers under the given time. Prefer books specially NCERT and you can go for Online tutorial videos available on youtube regarding the exams if you are on your own. It's similar to JEE so don't take tension. For BIT Sindri you need rank in between 1 - 500. If you are an average student, you have to start your preparation now.

BIT is usually very hard to get. Many students compete for this college, so it would be very difficult to get this college, unless you work very hard.
