IIEST Shibpur - Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Howrah Answered Questions

I don't know about IIEST Shibpur as it will obviously factor in your JEE Mains AIR (paper 2 if yo're going for B.Arch and to secure a good AIR with 57% in chose is not possible. (I think they set the minimum cutoff at 60% to appear for counselling). Even though to GET Architecture in JU you need to merely give the NATA exam (the score is irrelevant), even JU has a minimum cutoff of 60% in boards. I'd suggest, if your board permits it, appear for an improvement examination.

If you see the placement records of Jadavpur University, you will find that higher packages are provided to JU as compared to IIEST Shibpur. Though both are very prestigious college and if you have got CSE in both the colleges then I will recommend you to go for JU.

Cheers to your perception. Its good that you shifted your focus from JEE to Masters entrance. Talking about IIEST, an interesting fact about this college is that unlike other colleges, who have their starting rank in CSE or CST, starting rank of IIEST comes from Aerospace department. The reason being the academic excellence of the faculty here. Whether you want to further pursue masters or not, thorough knowledge of your B. Tech. or B. E. syllabus is always advised. You will get an opportunity to complete your bachelors degree under highly influential professors and with some diligence and hard work, you can even prepare for masters entrance without the aid of any coaching institute. And even apart from academics, this institute provides all opportunities for overall development. You will find yourself engaged in managing fests and participating in sports events time to time. So, I would highly recommend this college to you, especially if you want to further pursue your studies for competitive examinations.

If your location is your priority, I would suggest google some of the good universities which accepts JEE Mains marks. Though, moving out of your location, you can get any NIT accepts top 4 or 5. Some better suggestions are BIT-Mesra, NIT-Bhopal, NIT-Durgapur, NIT-Kurukshetra, NIT-Raipur.

IIEST, Shibpur for sure. The placements at IIEST, Shibpur has always been better than that of NIT, Durgapur. And with each passing year, the placements are getting better. The highest package offered in 2016 was Rs. 46 Lacs per annum. Ever since its transformation from BESU to IIEST, it has been attracting the attention of reputed firms and the placements are getting better since then.
