Hi, I can understand your apprehension and angst why you are studying in 12th standard. But let me assure you that the marks in the 12th standard are not the criteria for getting admission for BTech in any discipline. For IIT one needs to score minimum 75% off marks in the 12th board. After this the students performance in JEE Mains will enable him to appear for JEE advanced and the performance in JEE advanced would only enable the student to get admission in any one of the IIT's. My sincere advice to you would be not to look for marks in the 12th examination but lay more emphasis on learning the concepts that the teachers will try to teach you of mathematics and physics particularly and in general of all the subjects. Let me assure you that once the concepts are clear you can score brilliant leave in any entrance exam. Best wishes to you.

You are correct. Admission in IITs are based on All India Ranks. While admissions in NITs and GFTIs are based on various quota like home state, Other state and All India etc. So you are correct.
