Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hall of Residence is the largest hostel in terms of area and facilities. Lal Bahadur Shastri Hall of Residence construction completed in 2010 is a modern state-of-the-art hostel. It is a very spacious hostel and has many blocks in it. Apart from LBS Hall of Residence, there are several other hostels on the campus of IIT Kharagpur.

Hostels at IIT Kharagpur are furnished with beds, tables, chairs, high-speed LAN ports, fans, lights and adequate electricity ports. The quantity of the aforementioned things may vary depending upon the occupancy of the room whether it’s single room, double sharing or triple occupancy sharing.Also, some halls (hostel is referred to as hall of residence at IIT Kharagpur and hostellers as boarders) have washing machine facilities and some don’t. Laundry service is available at a reasonable price.

VGSOM admission to Management courses including MBA is based of valid CAT scores. For VGSOM MBA admission, students must meet both the overall CAT cut off percentile and the sectional cut off. The selection process of VGSOM admission to MBA is a two step process. The step one is on the basis of CAT scores where candidates are shortlisted for the further process of Personal Interview. For  VGSOM there is no sectional cutoff, however, candidates must meet the overall MBA4 cutoff of 90 percentile for General category, 80 for NC-OBC Category and 75 each for SC, ST and PwD categories. The final VGSOM cutoff for the final admission is based on cumulative scores of the application ratings, performance score in CAT and performance of the candidate in Personal Interview.
