The several factors bearing on the cutoff marks for admission to the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER) include the examination results of NEET-UG or NEET-PG, the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the available number of seats for that particular year. For MBBS Admission (through NEET-UG):the cutoff rank varies each year based on the category (General, SC, ST, OBC, etc.) and the available number of seats. One could say that being in the General category would typically require a high rank in NEET-UG for getting into this institute. Generally, this limit for general category could be in the range of high NEET-UG rank of 1,000-4,000 but changes every time. For Postgraduate Admission (MD/MS): The cutoff ranks for NEET-PG changes according to specialisation given MD, MS, and category under which the student falls.Normally, General Category candidates need to secure a high NEET-PG rank to become entitled to IPGMER for most popular specializations. The actual cutoff ranks for each year after the counseling process would be known from the official website of IPGMER or WBJEEB for MBBS or MCC for NEET-PG. Make sure to check for pertinent updates during the admission cycle.

The Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER) places greater emphasis on the quality of education and clinical training rather than placement-oriented programs. Being a government-neighbor based institute, its placement procedure is very different from other regular degree programs.Internships and postgraduate opportunities: The students of IPGMER pursue internship courses mainly in SSKM Hospital or internship in their affiliated hospitals. Again, the postgraduate opportunities: Most of the MBBS graduates tend to take specialisation (MD/MS) in either IPGMER or other reputed institutions, which boost career opportunities.Concerning salary packages:The salary ranges for an MBBS graduate in government and private hospitals vary to a great extent. The earliest salary can be from ?40,000 to per month to ?80,000 per month depending on the hospital with the locations. A specialisation and experience can create bounds in income. Higher academic qualifications and qualifications are the basis of placements as compared to mere job placements.Yet those who prefer to pursue with post graduation have a better potential in earnings, especially in private practice or specialised fields.
