There should not be any degree of squint or any morbid condition of eyes or of the eyelids that is liable to aggravate or recur, the pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequela. Candidates must possess good binocular vision (fusion faculty and a full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
Below mentioned vision standards must be met by the applicant:
Deck Department: Vision should be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in the other eye;
Engine and Electrical Department: Vision should be 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in the other eye;
The vision should be 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately.
Below mentioned vision standards must be met by the applicant:

For DGS-approved courses viz DNS leading to degree(Applied Nautical Science), degree(Nautical Science), degree(Maritime Science) & B.Tech (Marine Engineering), there should not be any degree of squint or any morbid condition of eyes

Candidates joining DNS, degree(Nautical Science) & degree (Maritime Science) degree course colour vision shall (unaided 1.0 (6/6) in better eye and 0.67 (6/9) in other eye. If applications received between 26 April and 31 May 2018 then candidates do not have to appear for the personal interview.
Final Selection
Candidates are selected based on the10+2 marks, IMUCET rank, marks obtained in TMISAT, medical fitness as per DGS norms and performance in personal interview. Regards.

Candidate must have secured minimum 60% marks in mandatory subjects and must have studied English as a subject either in Class X or Class XII with securing at least 50% marks.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview based 10+2 marks and rank obtained in Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET).
Final Selection:
Candidates are selected based on 10+2 marks, IMUCET rank, medical fitness as per DGS norms, and performance in personal interview.
