The eligibility criteria of NIELIT exam varies as per the course. To be eligible for the NIELIT exam candidates must have minimum 10+2, ITI, Diploma, or a B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc./MCA. 
There is no minimum percentages. For higher courses, students must have relevant post-qualification experience like Scientist B, where a B.E./B.Tech in relevant IT/CS fields. For detailed eligibility criteria is advised students to refer to the official notification PDF or the information brochure.

Yes, NIELIT is government job because the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology is an autonomous scientific society which comes under the administrative control of India's Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY).

The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (in short known was the NIELIT) is an annual entrance exam which is conducted for various certification and level-based exams (like O/A/B/C levels) for IT and electronics training. The objective of the exam is to also recruits for technical positions in government organizations like MEITY and NIC.

Registration for the July 2026 NIELIT exam cycle is open until March 31, 2026, for O, A, and C levels for both direct and institute candidates. For A/C level institute candidates, the deadline is extended to April 10, 2026.

  • O/A/B/C Levels: Practical examinations are scheduled to commence on February 7, 2026.
  • CHMT-O Level: Both the practical and the Employability Skills (ES) exams are expected to take place during the last week of January 2026.

There is a facility for candidates to choose to write the answers (the descriptive part only) either in English or Hindi. The preference should be marked therein. In case the preference is not marked, then the choice for the English medium will be by default. Question papers would remain in English only.

NIELIT Exam is organised at all India levels for entry into different UG and PG courses under the names Non-Formal Courses, such as O-Level, A-Level, B-Level, and C-Level. The NIELIT exam is organised twice yearly, in January and July. 

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate must have passed the 10+2 class for Bachelor's degree courses and Bachelor's degree for postgraduate degree courses from a recognised board. 

NIELIT Exam Syllabus: 

  • Aptitude

  • English 

  • General Awareness

  • Quantitative Ability

NIELIT Exam Pattern: 

  1. 100 multiple-choice questions

  2. Duration: 3 hours. 

  3. The exam will be conducted in English and Hindi.

  4. No marks
