Old, simple and helping nature,

Please don't go for both, because both are private and expensive too. Do the following things. In the month of May look for NITs notifications for DASA (Direct Admissions of Students Abroad). They charge around 6000 $ only. NITs are very prestigious one and run by direct central government. You don't need to apply for JEE Mains exam etc. Direct Admissions are done.

With this percentile, you cannot get CSE branch in NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkol, MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Jaipur (in case of both HS and OS). You can get CSE in NIT Rourkela, NIT KKR and NIT Calicut if you have state domicile (HS), but OS cutoffs are generally high (99.5+) to get CSE in these colleges. You can easily get CSE in NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Durgapur, IIEST Shibpur, NIT Hamirpur and NIT Jalandhar (in case of both HS and OS).

Rohan, don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering. If you are India, after studying Electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only few percent gets chance in electronics companies. Helping others is my habit.,

Yes you need to score good since seats filed quickly in CSE and cutoff also goes high for CSE. Try for the TOP IIT like IIT BOMBAY IIT DELHI etc. If you score around 220 then you can easily get the IIIT through JEE Main ONLY no need to go for JEE advance. If you score good in JEE advance too then you will definitely get the IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee etc. Talking about the private University then try for GALGOTIA, LPU, UPES, SRM and Amity
best of luck
hope your query is resolved
for further query please feel free to ask.

This question I've asked myself and I am suggesting you can go for CSE. I myself am pursuing a B.Tech degree in CSE. IT is kind of like fading but if you take CSE, you still have to learn some of the things you learn in IT. And in both ways, you can work in the IT sector. Go for CSE, your chances for pursuing higher studies are high too. Just go for it.
Good luck.
