As almost everyone has pointed out, it depends on your skill-set and interests. That said, if you really aren’t sure, chemical engineering will probably give you a lot more flexibility. Many chemical engineering degrees introduce the basics of programming, and computational work is common enough in chemical engineering research that there is a lot of support and resources to learn it out there. I have known people who graduated with me in chemical engineering but ended up working with computers None that specifically were in software design, but it wouldn’t be that far of a leap), but I haven't known it to go the other direction.

Hi Sawan,
Well, it depends on your branch preference and also which IITs you consider as "good". Cut-offs are much higher in old IITs like Delhi, Kanpur and Bombay than the newly opened ones. JEE offered ranks to students scoring above 123 marks in JEE '14 which went approximately to AIR 19000. However, general category students only to AIR 9000 were considered for counselling and no student with AIR above 7500 got any branch in any IIT. The cut-offs in JEE are increasing drastically every year - and there is no fixed cut-off. The maximum marks and type of paper are also unpredictable. To be on the safe side, you should aim to get at ... View more

Hello Rantu,
It depends on your interest only. Software engineering course is available as an undergraduate degree also. It is primarily the study of the software, coding, programming, etc. You can directly do that and you can easily succeed if you are good in coding and basics. You also need creativity and innovation for more advanced coding.
In case of CSE, it focuses on all aspects of computers like computer architecture, data analytics, and coding.
So, you may opt for anything according to your interest.

It is evident that there is an imbalance between the proportions of supply i.e. talent for computer science engineer available amongst all the youth in Chhattisgarh and demand i.e. total current job opportunities for CSE jobs in Chhattisgarh. There are 0 CSE jobs out of total 10709 job opportunities as compared to 0 youth out of total 3129071 having that talent.
So, you can get a chance.

The syllabus is, of course, the major difference between CSE and IT. Some core subjects like Data Structures, DBMS, Algorithms remain common in both the branches but while IT is about software and information, CSE, on the other hand, has a different scope as it is also about hardware working. Let me show it with some subjects in our university. First one is for CSE while the other one is for IT
