Last year, one of my friend whose rank was about 1.6 lacs in Muslim category got civil engineering there and you have got a very good rank. I am sure that you will get CSE in the first round.
With this rank, you can get any branch in almost any college, but what you can do is, get a management seats in any private college and put efforts there, else try to wait for a year and try again.
You are looking for upper branches than your rank must be between 0001 to 7000. But you can adopt second option for getting higher branches like (CSE, MECH)
Eligibility criteria is
1. You have to apply for VITEEE.
2. You have to secure a qualifying rank in order to eligible for merit seats as well as direct seats.
3) PCM percentage should be 60 or above

Both courses are very good and are connected with each other. If you have interest in Computer Hardware and Software, then kindly apply for Computer Science Engineering and if you keen interest in only software then kindly apply for Information Technology Engineering.

After looking at your concern, I would like to explain few points. There is no course which bad. You cannot compare CS with Engineering nor engineering With CS. The fact is even engineers are earning in Lacs of rupees. They have chance to setup their own business. Whereas, even CS students are getting higher salary for those who deserve. It totally depends on the branch you are opting for. If you have reservation then you have chances to get top college (COEP). Please do mention the branch you are interested whenever you ask for a cut off or you want to predict college with your rank or your marks. You might have a chance if you have any reservation criteria else give it a try. You have very great chance to get into this institute with this rank. Engineering grads care about, which algorithm or Model fix's better while a Statistical needs to why as well. The ratio in our country is over 100:1 because everyone knows Maths ain't easy, and Statistics in particular is too much for most. First of all, clear your back and then learn higher languages through which you can get jobs in various IT companies.
Mukesh don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering.
